As an Amazon Associate, The Soft Nest earns from qualifying purchases. How this works

Registries are long. Good advice should be short.

The Soft Nest started because a baby registry has about two hundred line items on it, and most guides to filling one out read like they were written by someone who has never actually used the product at 3am. We wanted something shorter and more specific: what to buy, what to skip, and why.

How we choose what to cover

We start from the categories that show up on almost every registry — night lights, monitors, storage, feeding gear — and pick one at a time. We buy a handful of the options that keep coming up in recommendations, use them the way a household actually would, and write down what held up and what didn't.

How we make money

Some of the links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. If you click through and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's the only way this site makes money — there's no paid placement, and a brand can't buy a better spot in a guide. You can read the full detail on our privacy and affiliate disclosure page.

What we're not

We're not a lab, and we don't run standardized testing protocols. What you're reading is one household's honest experience, cross-checked against what other parents and caregivers report. If a product needs a controlled lab test to judge properly — car seats, for instance — we say so and point you to organizations built for that.
